UNDERWRITING MANAGER

Job purpose

Design and implement underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures while leading your team and ensuring strict compliance with industry regulations. Perform thorough risk assessments and collaborate with cross-functional departments to align underwriting processes with the company’s overarching business goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee complex and high-value underwriting cases, supporting the team in decision-making.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions are timely, accurate, and aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and participate in credit risk committees.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to maintain a balanced risk-reward approach.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and oversee the continuous optimization of underwriting tools and systems.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure underwriting processes support business goals.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics, preparing detailed reports for senior management.
  • Lead and oversee a team of Financial Analysts and Financial Data Entry Support, providing guidance, mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the underwriting team.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Economics or a related field.
  • 3+ years in a similar role within a financial institution.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, databases, reporting tools)
  • Strong expertise in financial analysis and data interpretation.
  • Fluent English
  • Strong team coordination, open and effective communication, organization, proactivity and accountability.

 

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: Risk Director.

Manages: Financial Analysts and Financial Data Entry Support Teams.
